...so many things...

Apparently quite a bit has happened in the last couple of weeks! For some of those things, I don't have pictures...sorry! I'm not even sure where to start! We had a Sorenson family reunion a couple of weekends ago. We went to a park near Cherry Hill and pretty much just got to relax for a couple of days. It was really nice to see so many people from Matthew's family. Matthew and I forgot to take a 30 week "belly picture" but I think Matthew's mom has one from the family reunion that she is going to send me, so I will try to add it after I get it. I will for sure at least put it in the baby book!

 

Something a little out of the ordinary happened last week...

 

 

What is that...you ask?

 

 

BEES!!!

We got home from work one day and our neighbor told us that their grandkids found a swarm of bees in our maple tree. It was so crazy! I know Matthew got a video of them, but I couldn't find it. I swear there must have been thousands of bees, though! It was so crazy!

When I got home for lunch the next day, the bees were gone!

I really don't understand what happened, or why they were there, but it was one of the craziest things I've ever seen.

 

Next - update on the babies! They were a huge hit at the family reunion! I went in at 30 weeks for an ultrasound. Matthew actually got to come with me. Usually I sit for 10 minutes tops in the waiting room and then 10 minutes tops in the examination room. When we do the ultrasound usually we get to see some really cute hands and feet and faces. This time...the only time Matthew was able to come with me...we sat in the waiting room for a really long time. We sat in the examination room for even longer. We had an ultrasound and although seeing their heartbeats was really cool, we didn't even get to see hands or feet or faces or anything. I was so disappointed that Matthew didn't get to see all those fun things. And I felt bad because what normally takes 30 minutes took an hour and a half and Matthew was waiting to get back to work. It was a little sad. But the babies are looking really healthy and I am also doing pretty good. My blood pressure has been really good, so that's a plus!

 

 

I feel so great! I love feeling the babies move. It is starting to get a lot easier for Matthew to see them moving, which I love! I had a baby shower with Matthew's family last weekend and after everyone left, just his mom and dad and sisters (and me and Matthew) were just sitting there talking. One of the babies starting doing some kind of acrobatics and everyone in the room got to see her (or them, maybe) moving. It was pretty awesome!

They got pretty spoiled at the baby shower, too. They got a TON of clothes!! They are going to be some of the best dressed babies around!

I have another ultrasound with my doctor in Sanpete on Thursday and then I have another one up north on Monday. I'm really excited to see how they are doing and how much they weigh now!

 

I am also pretty excited about this sheet that I made for one of my cribs! It should have been such an easy project...but there was a lot of drama. I just kept making such stupid mistakes!!! It was so frustrating. I first cut the pattern out wrong, so maybe I should have stopped there, but I didn't. I just kept doing stupid little things. But it turned out alright! And the next one will be so much better!

Oddly enough I am actually excited to try to make another one. I think it will go much smoother...more smoothly? I don't know. Hopefully it goes better!

 

Lastly, I wanted to show off one of the things that Matthew has worked so hard on this summer!

I know I posted the planter boxes that he made, so I figured I would show off some of the plants we've got growing! We've got corn, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, peas, beans, potatoes, squash, cantaloupe, gourds, pumpkins...I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting...

The Sorenson Twins

I know I'm late in posting my 28 week update...I just feel like I've been so busy. I really haven't...maybe lazy is a better word! Anyway, Matthew is taking his Sunday nap, so I figured now would be a good time to play catch up! 

 

I went in for my 28 week ultrasound on July 25 and got to see the babies again!

The doctors say that they are doing so good!

Little miss Cupcake (Baby A) is weighing in at 2 lbs 11 oz

and little miss Eap (Baby B) is weighing in at 2 lbs 15 oz!

I don't know if it makes sense for me to be proud of them, but I am! I was so worried about so many things at the start of this pregnancy, and to have them doing so well is such a relief! My blood pressure was okay at 28 weeks, and I now have doctor's orders to not clean my tubs/shower or vacuum. (Isn't that terrible news!) Haha!

Matthew and my mom and aunt have been awesome to help me! I am so grateful to have them. Matthew spent a lot of time yesterday helping me clean the house and then he went out and worked on the stuff in the yard that still needed to be done. He is such a great husband!

 

I keep saying that Baby B is going to be like her daddy. It seems like she is so content all the time. Until the last couple of days, I couldn't feel her moving around near as much as Baby A. Now I feel them both moving around pretty much all the time. Last night I was resting a bowl of ice cream on my stomach (yes, I use my belly as a table sometimes...it's easier than trying to fit at an actual table) and maybe it was too cold for them or something, but they were both kicking at the bowl so hard, I thought they might push it off my belly!

My goal lately has been to capture a video of them kicking and sliding knees or elbows or what have you across my belly, but I haven't been lucky enough to hit record at the right time. Hopefully I can get it on video before they are born.

Anyway, Matthew thinks that Baby B might be more like me because she ALWAYS gets the hiccups. If you know me, you probably know that I will just randomly hiccup - and it's really loud and obnoxious and there is only one. It's really weird. My friends used to tease me and call me a pterodactyl. It's great. So Baby B is always hiccupping, and I don't think I have ever felt Baby A with the hiccups. So who knows!?

Another funny story about Baby B: Aunt Patty took me to a demolition derby where at the end of the derby they had a fireworks show. The first "BOOM" from the fireworks actually scared my little Baby B! I felt her jump so hard! It was so funny!

I just am more and more amazed daily that there are two little babies - two actual little human beings that are going to grow up and have their own personalities, growing inside me! And the closer it gets, the more anxious and excited I get to bring them home. I am still nervous, don't get me wrong, but I think my excitement is starting to outweigh the nerves. I'm sure this will change when it comes time for us to actually bring them home, but for now, I guess I'll just let my excitement grow!

 

 

26 Weeks

I cannot believe that I am already 26 weeks into my pregnancy.

I don't know if it's gone fast, or if it's just crazy to think about -- either way, here we are!

I am so excited to meet these two little babies in just about 10 weeks!!!!!! It sounds so soon, and I feel like they are still going to be so small. Hopefully in 10 weeks they will be big enough and strong enough to come into the world...if not, hopefully I can keep them safe inside my belly until they are big enough and strong enough! Wish me luck! Ha-ha!

 

Well, I don't have anything really exciting to report on this week.

I didn't have a real 26 week ultrasound. I did go see my doctor to talk about my blood pressure and what my risk for preeclampsia is. My blood pressure was actually in the normal range, and my kidneys are apparently functioning almost perfectly. My protein level was a little high, but not quite preeclamptic. (I wasn't sure what preeclampsia was, so for those of you who are interested, it's basically just high blood pressure and poor kidney function. It won't hurt the babies, but if it gets too bad, it could have permanent effects on me. And what is scary for the babies is that if it starts to get too bad for me, they will take the babies early, because the only way to "cure" preeclampsia is to get the placenta out of my body. Thank goodness I am not preeclamptic!) So we'll just keep watching my blood pressure - and hoping and praying all is well! I don't particularly want to take one of those tests again! (Mom, you know which one I'm talking about!)

 

I did get to see the girls at my 25 week appointment (yes, I get to see a doctor once a week for now...and for who knows how long) and they are so cute! It just blows me away every time I see them. It's amazing to see the changes they are making. It looks like they are starting to get some insulation on their little bones! I got a really good view of one of their arms and it was looking pretty rolley polley!

I am so excited to meet them - again - hopefully not too soon!

I'm not sure I'm much different than I was 2 weeks ago. I sure feel bigger though. The other night I could have SWORN I was almost watching myself stretch!

The babies are getting SO fun to watch and feel! I can seriously SEE them sliding a foot (or maybe and elbow or a knee or something) across my belly. They are just so active - it's like they have dance parties or something. Maybe they are just fighting, but it still feels cool! Baby A (Cupcake) likes to put a lot of pressure on my stomach and there are times when she's pushing so hard I and my belly gets so tight and hard that I'm pretty sure she's poking her little bum out or pushing her head against me. I think that's Matthew's favorite, too when they do that. Like he almost gets to hold one of his baby girls.

 

I think I will get to have another ultrasound in Sanpete this next week, and then I for sure get to have one the next week up in Provo, so I will definitely have a good update for you in 2 weeks.

I love learning how much they weight and getting pictures of them!

 

I guess I really need to get started on getting things together for these two little girls! Matthew put together a plan for the cribs that he is going to build them! I can't wait for him to get started! I know it's going to be a HUGE project and he is so busy right now so hopefully we can get them done. He is so amazing, though! We actually have access to two cribs, so if we need to just use them we can, but he knows how badly I want these cribs (the ones that he is making) so he is going to do his best to get it done for me! I sure love him!

And I am planning on making their bedding so I better get started on that, too!

There is just so much to prepare for and I really am not sure where to start. I feel like I have the big stuff figured out, and my plan is just to see what I get at baby showers - but I feel like I should be way more prepared than that! Two months is going to go by SO fast! I feel like we are going to have two babies here before I know it!

YIKES!!!

I sure hope I can make this work!

Bi-weekly Update

First of  all, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
There's really not a whole lot going on here at the Sorenson house, but I know the only reason anyone really gets on the blog is to see updates about the babies...right!?
(That's the only reason I would get on my blog if I were you, too!)

 

So here is the Babies Sorenson update!

 

I got to go in for my 24 week ultrasound and take all their measurements last week.

Matthew's mom was in Salt Lake helping the girls (Matthew's sisters) move into their new house, so since she was so close, she and Matthew both got to come with me this time!

I love it when Matthew comes with me and gets to see first hand the things that I usually just have to describe to him - and it was way fun for Julie to be there!

 

They both look really good. At my 22 week appointment, Baby A was weighing 1 lb and Baby B was weighing 13 ounces ... just 3 ounces behind Baby A.

 

At 24 weeks both babies are weighing in at a whopping 1 lb 9 oz! I can't believe that I have 3 pounds of baby in my belly!

 

Everything is measuring great, too! They are growing just like they should be!

 

Mom (me), however, might be causing a few problems. Apparently my blood pressure has been a little too high. When they took my blood pressure at my last two appointments, the machine actually had a little alarm that went off.

(How is that supposed to help someone not stress!?)

So I get to have a bunch of tests run on me just to make sure I'm not preeclamptic.

My doctor doesn't seem to be too worried. He said that my blood pressure has kind of stayed in a higher range the whole pregnancy, but they will run the tests just to be safe.

I'm just trying not to worry too much either...if the doctor's worry, then I will start to worry...a little easier said than done, but I'm trying!

I think other people are worried enough for me and Matthew put together! :)

WEEK 22

I went in for my 22 week ultrasound here in Sanpete! Unfortunately, my doctor's office here in Sanpete is not set up to print out ultrasound pictures. (Since week 24 is my last ultrasound up north, I'm really hoping my doctor gets a printer before my babies are born. I'm gonna be so sad not to have pictures of them.)

 

The babies look so good, though! I always worry so much about them. It's hard because I know I feel them moving around, but I always have to wonder if I'm feeling both of them, or if it's just one of them.

I get myself so worked up, so I really LOVE when I get to see them.

At this ultrasound I actually got to see a little face on one of them! It was so amazing! It wasn't that creepy x-ray looking face...it was an actual baby face! It was amazing!!!

 

 

I can't believe these little babies are going to be here in just over 3 months!

I get more and more excited...and more and more scared everyday!

 

We were invited to go spend the weekend on Aunt Patty and Uncle Bob's houseboat!

We had SO much fun! It was so nice to be on the lake and soaking up the sun! We went fishing, and cliff jumping and we were able to go on a little hike to see the Indian ruins.

...THE LATEST...

What have we been up to these last few weeks!?

Not much...just more ultrasounds and a birthday/birthday party, and putting in our garden. It's been a little crazy!

 

I went in for my 18 week ultrasound and everything looks so good! We just measured fluid and looked at the babies really quick. They both looked good and all was well! :)

 

Then at 20 weeks, I got to see them again and get another picture!

They were SO wiggly we only got the one picture. It was pretty funny to watch them moving so much. This picture makes them look so cuddly, but the truth is, they were just beating each other up the whole time!

I got to see Baby B (Eap) yawn, too! It was amazing!!!!

They are getting so big, too! Baby A (Cupcake) weighs 13 ounces and Baby B (Eap) weighs 1 pound. It's crazy to me how fast they grow!

One of the most exciting things happened for me this week, though! I have been feeling the babies move so much!! Matthew even got to feel them! It is so exciting for me!!! I love that they are getting so big! My mom got to feel them, too. That was a lot of fun...I think she LOVED it! :)

 

Matthew's birthday was last week, too so we did a BBQ for him. It was a lot of fun, and I am so glad so many people were able to come. His mom and dad were in Idaho so they got to come down before they went back home to California. Three of his sisters got to come down too! My mom and Aunt Patty and Cody and Kassidy came over too. We had a lot of fun...except I feel a little bad because I made Matthew cook his own birthday dinner! But it turned out so yummy! I did make the cake, though...so I get credit for that, right?

 

I am such a slacker, though...I didn't get any birthday pictures!!!

 

My last little update is that Matthew built some planter boxes for our garden! We finally got some veggies planted, and I really hope that they do well. Also, hopefully we are still in our house long enough to actually get to enjoy the veggies!

(I'll have to update you on that, too...we'll see how things go before I do)

I'm so glad that the weeds are hopefully going to not be too unmanageable and I'm glad that I won't have to bend over too far to weed them!

16 WEEKS

 

 

 

Now that I am almost 17 weeks into my pregnancy, I guess I will give you an update on my babies at 16 weeks!

 

Matthew and I went up to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center to meet with a specialist again and measure our babies' growth. I can't believe how much they have changed in so little time. For Matthew it was probably CRAZY since the last time he saw them, they looked like "gummy bears." (That's how Matthew described them) :)

I am so amazed and so grateful for technology! I love seeing my babies grow and develop. It was SO cool to see their hearts - which now have four distinct chambers - working. And to see their brains starting to develop. It was just amazing!

 

Most of the pictures didn't turn out too clear...but here is an
adorable little foot!!!

 I am pretty excited, too 'cause I get to see them every two weeks for the next couple of months! I'm feeling pretty lucky to be able to keep such a close eye on them!

 

Anyway...one of the most exciting parts about this ultrasound was that we got to find out the gender of our little "gummy bears!"

These two little GIRLS are sure going to be spoiled!

I'm sure that they are going to be such Daddy's girls!

 

When I told my sister that the babies are girls, her son was a little disappointed. He "thought they'd be boys." I think they're growing on him, though. He called me this week to tell me what he's nicknamed my babies. Here's how our conversation went:

Daxton - "Auntie Goo what is your first baby's name?"

Me - *told him our first name*

Daxton - "What is the other baby's name?"

Me - "I'm not sure yet..."

Daxton - "Well think of somethin' real quick!"

Me - *threw out a name*

Daxton - "Okay! One of them is "Cupcake" and the other one is "Eap" okay?"

 

He makes me laugh so hard! I just love it!

So I've taken to calling Baby A "Cupcake" and Baby B "Eap."

 I am doing pretty good too! I actually cleaned my whole house on Saturday! It feels so great to have some energy back! And maybe even better to not be so sick anymore!

My doctor said that at 16 weeks I would be measuring about 18 or 19 weeks.

 

Now I just can't wait until I can feel them moving!
